Character Theme Songs - Zyra & Adrian

Feb 5th, 2008 Posted in On Writing... | no comment »

I reposting this from my old blog because Whitepaws and I were talking about theme songs for the characters in our navels. It came to my attention one day while play some Tori in the background and writing that this song was for Zyra and the Captain. Its part in what it sounds like and part in the lyrics… its really fascinating how it works out.

Go figure.

Code Red - Tori Amos from American Doll Posse Album

Some say that I will and some say I won’t
Victory is an elusive whore
She is as easily mine
As she is yours

Slip and slide my way through this charade
I know all the players and I must say
Do this long enough
You get a taste for it

I’ll do this last one and I’ll grow me some wine
Leave them troubled boys all behind
What you stole, I would have given freely
Code Red you’re staring Code Red staring at me

Well sometimes he do and sometimes he don’t
Sometimes I love myself best alone
Do this long enough
You get a taste for it

A six pack of Coke and a bottle of Jack
“whatever you do” he said “look after that,” yeah well
Being trusted and lusted
It could be worse than that

I’ll do this last one and I’ll grow me some wine
Leave them troubled boys all behind
What you stole, I would have given freely
Code Red staring Code Red staring

Come on baby I can drink you down
Then I have my job to do and do well
Since you won’t give guarantees

I’ll be cashing out
I’ll do this last one and I’ll grow me some wine
Leave them troubled boys all behind
Said I’ll do this last one and I’ll grow me some wine
Leave them troubled boys all behind

What you stole, I would have given freely
Code Red staring Code Red staring

Wee. We had to be down there by 6:30. They pumped me full of holes like last Saturday. I’ve got five band aids on one arm lol… they had to go through my foot again, this time the left one. That poor guy…

I was a lot more with it this time around and felt a little bit of pain. When I mentioned that, they just numbed me up and all was good. It wasn’t that bad but it was startling because I wasn’t expecting any pain.

Good news, though!

1. The special mouthwash they gave me to help clear up my gums did the job wonderfully.

2. The antibiotics they put me on last week really did the trick and helped them out… somehow, I guess. I dunno, Whitey told me so who knows ^_^

3. Last but not least, my FAVORITE part! There are 6 teeth they thought they’d have to do root canals on, but they discovered today they don’t have to! Weee! I’m not sure which 6 they were. Once again, they told Whitey and… anyway. This is super good news. Less time in the chair, less sedation, less money. That feels pretty stinkingly good ^_^

I was a lot less in and out of it this week than I was last week, which is #1 good… I guess. It did seem to make the time pass slower. But they prolly started at about 7 and I got home at 11:30ish. It was a shorter run than last time, but maybe an hours or 2.

The people at Allen Creek Dental are SOOOO nice. #1 good to them!

My teeth somehow feel more “solid” now. I don’t know how to explain it. I knew my top teeth were all bad. Bey, I can’t wait ’til they cap my bottom teeth. I almost feel like I can start chewing soon.

When I had my jaw surgery all those years ago and I was on the liquid only diet, then I moved to pudding (yay?) then eventually to real food, it was hard to adjust to. The food felt huge and strange in my mouth. I have a feeling I might be doing that now. I’ve become so afraid of solids these past few months. And with just the temps on, I’m even more afraid of solids. So I’m going to continue with liquidy, super soft stuff. Maybe tomorrow I’ll see if I can manage man ‘n cheese again…

Meanwhile, Friday night I made Whitey buy me a new MyScene doll. I’ve wanted a partner for my existing doll. Yeesss I hate their pretty-slut clothes, but I’d like to make my own clothes for them eventually. Actually it was temping to buy the cheaper, plain MyScene dolls, take the clothes off, and eBay the nekkid bodies :) Some of their clothes are very possible, but not all.

Because I’ll never be able to afford the double Jointed Super Dollfie, Blythe or the others high end super fancy dolls:

No, that’s not wrapping paper for presents. Its actually for my arts n crafts :)

I didn’t notice until I got the red head home and set her next to the black haired one that they remind me of Zyra and Adrian. Zyra has long, straight black hair and she’s human. Adrian had red hair (more like Phoenix in X-Men 3) and in an anthropomorphic feline/vulpus mix… so her hair at the top looks like ears to me.

I’m not going to name them that though.

I picked the roller derby type My Scene because I’m really after the poseability. The other MyScenes aren’t built like that.

The Dolifies and Blythes and such are super poseable. You name the joint, you can move it.

Thats it for now! Woot!

Current Mood:guilty emoticon guilty

Something odd was happening. I was writing (yes, I’m still working on my novel, even after 50k, cause I’m obsessed to see the end)… I was listening to Tori’s American Doll Posse. typing, writing, lalala… all is going well. I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going (I think I have pace issues, but its still nice and fun). Zyra ended up alone in the crow’s nest of the Rose and after a few moments of reflections, Code Red came up on the CD.

The song, everything about it, the beat especially and just the way Tori is singing fit perfectly for Zyra’s character… and soon I found that Adrian was going to join her. Muse is usually my running voice for writing and they are -awesome- at it, but today I veered towards Tori and I’m glad I did. Its weird how these things happen. I can’t explain anymore about it because you’d have to know the characters -and- the song… but anyway.
