OH wow.  If I’m going to start doing more kitcheny things, I might need to add some new categories and tags to my blog ^-^

Yesterday at almost 3 PM I was chatting with my new bud Lisa/Fey. We suddenly and randomly decided to go take a quickie hike on Spencer’s Butte. “Yay!” says I so I got ready and waited for her to show up.

We stop by Glory Bee first. Glory Bee is made of the stuff that Win is made of. We used to go there when I was little ’cause we went through a healthy hippie sort of phase. I don’t remember the place being so… perfect! They have everything I need to make any sort of bath/candle product I ever want to make… ever! And its just a short run from where I live.

So after drooling up a storm there we decide its getting too dark too quick to go to the Butt so we go to Goodwill in search of cheap yarn for me and a food processor for her. The yarn there was crappy even for a second hand store so I didn’t get any. There was a mini food processor for $5 but she said “I can get a new one for $10! Let’s go to Walmart.”

Off to Walmart we went. She found her food processor, I looked at the yarn. Crappy selection of crappy yarn. Off to her place with the plan of making lentil stew and Hawaiian sweet bread and watching Ravenous (a movie about people eating people). ‘Cause we’re morbid, or something?

So she makes the stew while I make the bread. She had never made the recipe before and I had never made bread before. So, good times! Once the stew was done and the dough left to rise, we watched Ravenous whilst ravenously eating our stew. Numnumnum. The movie was really good but what made half or more of the movie was music. Yes, movies need music for the most part, but the music for this was just… brilliant. It made up so much of the mood and emotion, more than the actors did. And the end! lol! “That was… very…. sneaky.”

Trust me, you should be laughing ^-^

The stew came out pretty dang good.

So we got back to our dough and sorted it out and:

I didn’t take a pic of the loaf ’cause I didn’t think about it.

So then she went and showed me the Blender program and how easy it is to make sculpties for Second Life.  ‘Cha… everybody was saying it was hard.  Only part I can think of that would be hard is getting something really fancy with a lot of detail done.

So then ummm what then? Oh yeah, we went about making persimmon jam stuffs.  NUMNUMNUM! Oh wait, too soon…

We sorted out the crappy persimmons from the good persimmons and she squeezed all the pulp out of them.  The bread finished baking and I was stirring ginger and lots of sugar then blah blah lots joking and fun times ^-^ When the jam stuff was done we had just enough left over to fill part of a jar so we cracked open our heart-shaped bread loaf and drizzled on that beautiful beautiful hot persimmon-ginger love.

NUMNUMNUM!

I don’t think I’ve ate anything so perfect in my life ^-^  And I ate a lot.  Didn’t take pics of the 2 finished loaves because… well, you wouldn’t have either if you were too busy wanting to bury your face in it :-p

So that was more or less it.  She gave me the rest of the bread, a jar of chutney I helped her a little to make the other day and a jar of persimmonumnumnum that she had made at a different point.  I was pooped when I got home and had a hard time sleeping but I had the strangest dream O.o

I woke up, rolled off the couch and found myself devouring a chunk of the bread with the persimmonumnumnum stuff on it.  Ohh I gotta try it chilled down at some point :-p

I didn’t get a pick of the loaf before I devoured it… I know I know I know… but you wouldn’t have either if you knew what was waiting for you :-p  So here’s whats left at the moment:

My dad stole the butts.

And I didn’t get a pic of a nice fresh jar of the persimmonumnumnum but here:

NOMNOMNOM!  ok… gotta stop doing that.

And because the chutney tasted sooooo incredible while we were making it:

Chuuutney! It has a little of everything in it.  Jalapeños, pomegranates, pears, brown sugar… other stuff I can’t remember.  And wow does it taste like wow.  I can’t wait to try it on something.

Ok I think that’s all I have to report.  It was a very good day.  I hope to have many more like it.

the Weatherman

I watched the Weatherman last night.  I loves me some Nicholace Cage.  Is his voice not teh smex?

Micheal Cain was also very cool.  I just now looked him up because he was sooo familiar (Alfred!).  He is made of pure smex.

Why did I love this movie? It was very… smart.  And so very true.  Everything was real about it.  So very true.  I love how a lot of the dialog was sort of weird-awkward.  It had a different feeling and that made it even more real.

It reminded me very much of American Beauty (which I hated when I first saw it but if there’s one thing I learned from my first bf, its that its ok to think outside the box).  Weather man is not an action flick and it depends entirely on its narration.

And and its so quotable.

The MC, narrating:

Dave Spritz: Here’s something that if you want your father to think you’re not a silly fuck, don’t slap a guy across the face with a glove because if you do that, that’s what he will think. Unless you’re a noble man or something in the nineteenth century. Which I am not.

There was a flashback sort of thing where the MC remembering how his wife asked him to get tartar sauce when he went to the store:

Dave Spritz: Man, I’d like to put my face in there. Right in there. Tartar sauce. My hips are cold. Tartar sauce. That’s when you know its cold. I like eating pussy. Tartar sauce. A lot of guys don’t. Well maybe they do. Maybe that’s just black guys. Tartar sauce. What happened to the guy who was trying to fly around the world in a balloon? Did he make it? I should put some espionage or stolen plutonium in my novel. Tartar sauce. Spice it up. Neil Young. Fuck, its cold. Neil Young. Wh-why am I thinking about Neil Young. Neil Diamond. Neil… Theres not a lot of famous Neils. Is this Wednesday? I wish I had two dicks. I thought the whole family was going to learn Spanish together this year. That never really happened. I haven’t had a Spanish omelette in a long time. Here we go.

And, because its cool:

Dave Spritz: I remember once imagining what my life would be like, what I’d be like. I pictured having all these qualities, strong positive qualities that people could pick up on from across the room. But as time passed, few ever became any qualities that I actually had. And all the possibilities I faced and the sorts of people I could be, all of them got reduced every year to fewer and fewer. Until finally they got reduced to one, to who I am. And that’s who I am, the weather man.

And, the quote to end all quotes (throughout the movie people throw fast food at him from the street):

Dave Spritz: People don’t throw things at me any more. Maybe because I carry a bow around.

House of Wax & The Piano

House of Wax:

o.m.g.  Scariest movie I’ve ever seen, which is saying a lot because I can’t really say I’ve seen anything scary.  I was holding the remote the whole time and that thing was soaking by the time the movie was over.  I have no clue what made it so damn scary though.  Oh, and I’d see it again.  I think.  I don’t normally want to see “scary” movies again.

The Piano:

No wonder this one was so popular! I watched it on On Demand in the wee hours of the morning today.  I quite liked it.  I missed a lot of the dialog because… I need my ears cleaned or something :-p (other people talking in the room, then everyone went to bed so I had to turn it way down).  But year… ear cleaning…

Maybe it was popular because it had both boobie -and- weenie ^-^

……  O.o

I thought it was going to be a not very good feel-good movie so I’d be going to bed feeling… not good.  But it had a really good end.  Sad (the piano!).  It was an interesting movie to see… with me separated from my piano right now.  It was actually a bit of a deep ending (hahaha! get it?) and was just… lovely.

After it was over I went and looked out the window to see it was snowing yet again.  I played some piano on the counter and watched the flakes fall for awhile.  I was about to go out and twirl in the snow but I think I got distracted by somethi- oh look! shiny!

Bridge to Terabithia, Chuck & Larry, Nim’s Island, Dark Water, Love Guru and Blood Rayne

Bridge to Terabithia:

OMG!

OMG!

OMG!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMG!

Best movie I’ve seen in my life!

Chuck & Larry:

Very funny.  Good for the whole family ^-^  Better than I thought it would be.

Nim’s Island:

Very cut.  Had a really shitty ending… it was anti-climatic.  Just kinda… pittered out.  And you could see it coming too :(

The writer lady is soooo me! (minus Purel obsession and “boarderline agoraphobia”).  zomg.

Dark Water

Not bad! Not great, but not bad.  Wouldn’t watch it again willingly.

Love Guru

I swear this movie was written by my dad ^-^  At first I thought they were going to be making fun of self help/metaphysical stuff and they kinda did but everything they said was right on with all that and it was… jsut halarious.

I grew up with all those jokes ^-^

Blood Rayne:

I would seriously rather have a root canal than watch that movie again.  Seriously.

Bad acting, especially by Mr Meatloaf (like… this is supposed to be a serious film??)… sex was fake… only thing this movie had going for it was great boobs.  But I wouldn’t watch it even for that.

Can you all tell I love watching movies? :-p

Quiet times… movies, knitting, writing, haircuts…

I think once I start waking up at a decent time (you know, -before- 1 PM) I’ll do my SL thing during the day when my mom is at work (its too slow on my end when they’re both on SL) then do my other things for the rest of the day.

Movies!

Today though I watched Get Smart (totally awesome and perfect!), Evan Almighty (really funny!) and I just now finished Ironman.  I loved Ironman.

“This is perfectly safe…. *BLASTS off screen* …. I was not expecting that.”

Knitting!

So good thing I brought my Ravenclaw scarf along.  I worked on it a bit on the ride of here and got another set of bars done.  I’ve got 2 more sets to go then its done!\

Writing!

Also going to be working on a new book project for Q’lanth.  Well its not exactly new.  I wrote it earlier this ear I think and its the story of Adrian, starting at the age of 13 when.  Katie read it as the prolog to my trilogy but I think I’m just going to roll with it and turn that into the beginning of a book to preceed the trilogy (or is it proceed? damn headache…).  I’m going to title it something about Rose, Blossoming Rose or… something.  Because its about Adrian turning into who she is when the trilogy starts.

Haircut!

I may get my hair cut properly Wednesday.  I didn’t mention it before but I cut my own hair a couple Fridays ago.  I had a total lapse of sanity and just did it.  It feels soooo good short but it looks like crap.  Really though I’ve never been a hair person…. I’ve only truely liked one haircut my whole life.  There was one more after that that came close, though.

What I want is something fun and funky! I actually found a picture done in Pose of a gal who has hair like I’d imagine Zyra’s to look after she gets it cut and that would be totally awesome hair.  Its too bad I can’t cut it like that.  Why, asks you? Nobody has any clue what I try to tell them what I want my haircut.  >.<  So why bother?

Damnit all, I forgot my hairspray at home.  I was going to bring it and play with my hair some.  Ah well.

So yeah.  That’s that.  Just gonna take some chill time.
