foryou-241x300 in relation to you

Its weird.  I opened my book to work on the doodle and found the page to be almost completely blank, and some really ugly stupid stuff on the opposing page O.o  So I doodled out most of what I thought I had and did a little trail to the opposing page which isn’t as sad and bad-weird as I thought it was.

This was doodled in the book I originally was going to do something else with, thus all of the pages are purple.  It really makes the whole book really cozy and stuff… I have pics of that in older posts.  Somewhere.  *is lazy*

Other than that, I need to start trying to decide what in the world to pack for staying in Eugene.  Looks like I might be haeding out there this week or next.  If my mom had her way I would have been there, like yesterday :-p

Since there won’t be much space there for my crap I’ll prolly end up with just some clothes, my book, journal, oodles of pens… the laptop.  That’s prolly it.  I’ll be completely cut off from all my junk! :-p

Ohhh yeah I prolly bring my jewelry makin’ goodies since it packs away easily and my crappy acrylic socks I’m knitting.

Okay that’s it I hope :-p

Knitted Egeblad doily, alien, HisHat & more, o my!

I haven’t been doing much of anything but playing my Pokemon Pearl lately and kinda staring at stuff. I have accomplished a little bit of writing and I got out of my writing rut. So that’s good. I haven’t felt like doing anything for a long while now, so I’ve been puttering away. Sometimes you really need to just NOT do anything, take a break, doesn’t matter how much you love doing what you normally do.

EXPERIMENT TIME!

I’m trying something different with my pics. Let me know how you like this idea.

FO baby blanket, 27, Challenges & WIP Woe canvas

Apr 17th, 2008 Posted in my Arts & Crafts | 5 comments »

First off, I started this blanket in December and just last night finished it. It was a quick project, but I had to take knitting breaks and you know, other stuff like Life gets in the way. Its going to be for sale, yay!

Annnd, I started work in my 27th birthday book the other day. It seems that its turning into a quotes book, which is perfect because I LOVE quotes and there are many I really really like.

Spread 1:

27-1.jpg

I’m not happy with the left side. The dancing lady isn’t doing it for me and my Sharpie died whilst I was writing the quote. But hey, that’s okay. Can anybody tell me what kind of marker will write on ANYTHING?? I used a White Out pen on the other side.

Spread 2:

27-2.jpg

Still needs work, of course. But I like it so far :) I need a quote for this page still.

Spread 6: for quotes and stripes challenge.

Simplistic? Yes. Will I add to it? I’m sure I will. Am I worried about it? Nope. This is spread 6. This doesn’t mean that I’ve done six… I just skipped ahead in the book. BECAUSE I CAN! BWA HA HAAA!

And, here’s my Woe 8×10 canvas I started awhile ago:

Woe is a little girl I came up with AGES AGO whilst practicing with my Wacom. Then after awhile I thought it would be really cool to do a series social commentary comic using her, but I haven’t done that due to just shooting myself down too much about it. So right now she’s a paper doll sort of thing and she’s just laying there in pieces and the letters need painting and affixing, but I’m not sure what else to do with it.

Book for my 27th, art/glue journal book scans, first ‘commisson’

Special thanks to someone (actually several who suggested it) and this video here, I made my first ever hand bound book!

book1.jpgbook2.jpg

I used a composition notebook from Wal mart that was $2 something and bought a pack of file folders for $2 something. I had the waxed cord stuff. So the project cost me about $5ish and some fun time. I’ll probably cover it when I’m done. It’s the book I’ll be using for my 27th birthday project (I ended up liking the book idea best). It has enough pages so I can do 27 spreads plus one to grow on ;-)

In the 2nd shot there you’ll see the fun looking edge of my artglue journal book thing. FUN!

I already attacked it with my NEW LIQUITEX GESSO! Yay! I was getting low on my Bob Ross gesso. So we went to the art store today, which was a treat, along with the Moo latte. It was cheaper than the Bob Ross, it doesn’t smell, its smoother and I think it spreads further? The gesso, not the moo latte lol.

And, in no particular order, some pages in my art journal that have been floating around for the last week or whatever. Of course I don’t think any of them are done.

This page I actually showed in an earlier post, but it was only the background before:

No, I didn’t trace my own hands:

Last and most certainly least, something I’m doing for the Grants Pass Ambassadors…. it’s based off the (perfect) mascot for Grants Pass. They’re going to use this image on their pins for this year’s state Chamber convention. It’s actually a really fun thing… every city has a newly designed pin every year, all the ambassadors from all over the states come trade pins whilst partying. Seriously, it is one big party. Especially Friday nights :) But there’s also tons of networking and workshops and getting to know the area of wherever the convention is taking place. So, wiithout too much more rambling:

…. yes I know, if I had a day job, I wouldn’t quit it :-p

I made some more earrings, last night I think, but was too lazy to round them up to take pics.

Challenges for this week

Apr 9th, 2008 Posted in my Arts & Crafts | 8 comments »

So I’ve finally got around to ‘forcing’ myself to do some weekly art challenges :) Nah, not really forcing. I want to do these. The motivation to do them is the hard part :-p

For Created Byhand, this week’s challenge was Watercolor Backgrounds:

watercolor.jpg

Yup, I did the plastic wrap background. 2nd time ever. I’m going to use this background in the Inspire me Thursday’s Peace challenge. HopefullyI’ll get that done before tomorrow when they’ll prolly put up a new challenge lol

So watch this space to see if I complete any other challenges from my list!

*eta* My goal was to do the Peace challenge for Inspire me Thursday before midnight. Here it is!

peace.jpg

And here’s what I did:

  1. Went through all my pre cut out word stash and picked out the words I felt were connected to Peace in some way, shape or form.
  2. Arranged them to fit in my glueartjournalthing all on one page. Had leftovers. It was difficult, but like Tetris ^-^… then I used my Elmer’s Gluestick to glue them down.
  3. Did the lightest layer of Gesso I could do without watering it down. I wanted as much of the words readable as possible. It… went okay :-p Had to get a cloth out to whip words clean.
  4. Used a ColorBox Fluid Chalk ink pad in Blue Lagoon and Versa Color in Royale Blue to ink up the Gesso.
  5. Grabbed a random light blue colored pencil and filled a bit more of the white space in.
  6. Cut that “The Center of it All” graphic into a peace sign, wove my tree through it (made by my handmade paper above) and glues some bits down with Elmer’s Rubber Cement.
  7. Rubbed some Ranger’s Distress Ink in Dusty Orchard color on the edges of the tree.
  8. Inked up the peace sign with ColorBox Fluid Chalk ink in Lime Pastel and Versa Color in Tropical Green, and inked the “blank” space with the Blue Lagoon again.
  9. Glued the peace sign tree unit down with Rubber Cement again.
  10. I had to get some of Portfolio’s Water Soluble Oil Pastels out of my system so I used a light green and light blue in places. Thinking back on it, I should have used those instead of the ink pads, but eh…

And, that’s pretty much it!
