Bye Bye Birdie, and good riddence

Reviews & Responses No Comments »

Current Mood:numb emoticon numb

So I volunteered out at Rogue Community College bowl to see Bye Bye Birdie by Rogue Music Theatre. I do this almost every year so I can see the show for free. zmg I want my 3 hours back.

It sucked.

There’s no other way to put it.

I don’t have a problem with the acting, (most of) the singing or the musicians, but: The music sucked, the characters were pretty much non-likable (though that Albert character was funny, the actor who played him was really fun).

Most of all… the story sucked. I get that its satire, which is great but… no. The whole thing just sucked.

There were a lot of funny moments that made it barely watchable though! ^-^

Oh, and Swamp Witch kept me warm (the RCC bowl is outside).

So yeah. Never gonna see that one again.

U.S. President George Bush is urging a strong international stand against the government of Zimbabwe, saying the presidential runoff election scheduled for later this week amounts to a sham. VOA White House correspondent Paula Wolfson has details.

President Bush says the people of Zimbabwe deserve to have their votes count.

…. why, YES, it would be nice to have the people’s votes count.

Mario Party DS game review

Reviews & Responses No Comments »

Reason Bought: I remembered it had super high reviews and I wanted some of that action. I mistook it for a WiFi game because of the WiFi icon on the back (wait, what?).

Location/Price: Toys ‘R Us in Eugene Oregon for $25 (I had a $5 off coupon)

First Impression: OMG what a waste of money! I could have bought FOOD!

Secondary Impression: OMG crackcocain.

Previous Experience: Big fan of anything Mario but never played any Mario Party before.

The Game

So there’s a few different modes. I’m going to talk about one. But the basic idea is that Bowser shrinks Mario and friends down to itty bitty size.

Story Mode - You’re playing on a game board. That’s right, think old school board games with dice and squares that you land on with different bonuses and penalties. Good stuff! At first I didn’t understand it because I was wrapped up in being pissed that it wasn’t WiFi like I thought. But once I figured out it was a BOARD GAME… yay!

So you play on the game board like you would in a board game. There are five? stages and they all have one main goal: Work your way around the board and collect as many stars as you can. The player (you play against 3 random Mario characters) with the most stars at the end of 10 turns gets to take on the “boss” for that stage. If somebody wins more stars than you, its okay. They won’t be able to beat the boss and you get to replay that stage, which is FUN. Any don’t worry about the computer sucking or blowing. I found it just right.

Why is it fun, asks you? Why is this crackcocain?

THE MINI GAMES! *squee*

The mini games are abundant in numbers and addictions. At the end of each turn you play a random mini game. At various squares you land on, there’s mini games.

What is so fun about the mini games?

You will play for awhile before seeing any repeats. I’m on my second or third replay of stage 3 and am still discovering a bunch of new minis. Also: The mini games are just that. Really mini, really short, really simple. My favorite thing about them is that there are various vs modes in the games. Its 1 vs 3 or 2 vs 2 or everyman for himself. My favorite games are the ones where everyone wins. I’m not competitive.

Something really neat about it is you’ll end up switching roles for a game. For example, there is one where your team mates must drop a plushie on top of one of the players running around below you. Once I -was- the person who was having to dodge plushies. I’m not sure how that works… like the person with the least number of coins/stars is sort of ‘it’.

One last thing to note on the mini games is that when you start a game, whether you have played it or not, you can practice it before you actually play it for real as many times as you want. This includes the boss fights! Yay! And if you loose the boss fight you can try again. I don’t know if there’s a limit on that though.

While you run around on the board, you get to collect coins. Coins are also earned through the games. With the coins you can buy things from a shop to help you/deter the other players. Nothing nasty though. It adds a lot of fun spirit to the competitiveness and keeps it real light.

So yeah! One of the other playing modes is just that you can play with other (real) people and pick games to play that you’ve already unlocked. The nifty thing about that is only one person needs the actual game :-p

Overall Rating: 10/10

Replay Value: 9/10

Recommended: Yup! Even if you have no one to play with, like me! I am stingy with my money in that I will very rarely buy anything over $20. This is worth every penny.

Back from Eugene, movies, - More Dental Woes

Just About Me, Reviews & Responses 1 Comment »

I got back from Eugene on Thursday the 5th, just in time to run into Allen Creek Dental to sign some paperwork and make sure my blood pressure and whatnot was okay.

That night we rented Bee movie (saw it with my dad) and Whitepaws really liked it. Then one neither of us have seen- National Treasure 2. It was great! Not the bestest movie ever, but it was quite enjoyable.

On to the Dental Woes!

It went great! Although I swear, every time they put me under, I’m more and more “aware”. This doesn’t bother me because I’m not in pain and all the gadgetry they use is fascinating… from what I can tell O.o And I can always tell when its near quittin’ time ’cause I start wiggling my legs around.

So now I have a cap way back on a tooth on the right side, the pulled the ebil one, and it looks like i might have 2 caps on the teeth in front of the pulled one O.o It -looks- like it anyway. That cap in the back in going to take some getting used to. It feel weeeird. Not bad though.

I get to go in in 11 days to get my stitches out. Huzzah! Because apparently they did some more gum extension… teeth… extension… whatever you call it.

It’s a Windows World, says an idiot/jokster

Read this article It’s a Windows world: deal with it and come back here.

*waits*

Mmkay. You’re back now, right?

Okay. So I want to run a poll. Is the writer of the article a complete idiot (ignorant works, too) or is he trying to pull off a clever joke?

I rolled my eyes so hard at the writer, I almost gave myself a headache :-p
