What kind of insect is this??? eta: IDENTIFIED!
ETA Tue Apr 15th, 3:46 AM. IT’S A POTATO BUG! omfg. Now I know why everyone always looked at me weirdly when I said potato bugs were my favorite bugs and I thought they were cute and I always played with them when I was little. Turns out they were actually WOODLOUSES.
First off, I’ve been reading everyone’s comments about book vrs canvas. I think I’m going to make my own book (first one ever!) and do 27 spreads that way :)
ANYWAY. Was out in the “garden” this weekend doing some digging. I need some help! What the FUCK is this???
This thing was the BIGGEST BUG I’VE SEEN IN MY LIFE! I SWEAR. I think this thing was like 4 inches long. Maybe 5. maybe 6!
I was born and raised in Eugene (Centralish Oregon)- all I ever saw were little centipedes, little millipedes, “daddy long legs” (which I’ve found out isn’t what they really are?) somewhat big black beetles… rarely saw butterflies. Dragonflies were even more rare. Saw tons of honey bees, grasshoppers, crickets… and a variety of other smaaalll things. So imagine my shock when I dug this bad boy up.
Whitey said they’re common around here (Southern Oregon).
So yeah. Can anybody name that insect? :-p
I’m nick’ing him Kricketune. Yes I’ve been playing too much Pokemon :-p I hope he managed to bury himself again. I tried to hep but the little turd was really pissy after I dug him up. I also saw a larva sort of thing near the digspot. Looked like a white caterpillar sort of thing.
